The 3rd last '66 Studebaker
A good friend just purchased this car, it showed up here this morning. Not the best photos but I thought some of you might get a kick out of seeing it.
This is the 3rd car from the end of production. Original and unrestored with 100 miles showing on the odometer.
The new owner's plan is to replace the original tires, do the usual maintenance things, and drive it a bit.

Interesting Car - a 230 I6 with a 3 speed standard. If you see the Build sheet it originally was scheduled to have a 3 speed OD tranny behind the 230, but the order was X'd out and switched to the 3 spd.

That is awesome Matt. I like seeing the low mileage original cars. Thanks for sharing.

What a great car !! The Chevy 230 and 250 sixes of that era had distributer bushing issues. I fixed many of them with a taxi cab distributer housing that had two bushings and an oil seal.

Wow, that's wild! Matt, please tell us the backstory on this car -- where and why was this stored without being driven?? How many owners has it had? Inquiring minds want to know!! 😀

Maybe the great Carnac could tell us if it was hermetically sealed in a mayonnaise jar.

Best I can see on the PO, it appears they also deleted the 3.73 rear end and installed a 3.31 instead. Understandable, since the 3.73 was more compatible with the OD, and the 3.31 was more compatible with the 3-speed.
It's a time capsule, but I hope the new owner drives it like he stole it.

I see he plans to drive it ! There goes the 100 Miles !
But then, you can't save it forever, for what ? An extra $1000.00 or two of Value?THAT, is a Real Survivor !

I don't know much of the story yet. I'm told that it was once part of Bill Harrah's collection and has had a lot of different owners since then. Fortunately, they've all made a point to keep the car stored inside and preserved.
It won't be seeing "daily driver" status or be taken on any long distance road trips, but it'll get driven around locally. At the end of the day, it's still just a car.

Here are a few more photos of it in its new garage. The other '66 is also original and unrestored, though it's high mileage in comparison (almost 30K).

Very sharp looking with only an incredible 100 miles on the car. I wish my body had that low mileage as well-but that's a different story! Open question to anyone-was the reddish/orange sticker with suggested tire pressure factory stock?

Yes, starting in January 1966.

Thanks for sharing, Matt.
What an amazing time capsule. Extensive photo documentation before and after your service is invaluable to judges and people undergoing restorations.Aside, I love cars and trucks with rocker-to-rocker rubber floor covering instead of carpet (had one in college-so so SO practical!)

I hope he changes wheels and tires and saves the originals to put back on at a later date or for the next owner. Yes, very cool to see.
